Sechelt
Sechelt, meaning ‘Land Between Two Waters’, was derived from the fact that the community is sandwiched between the Inlet water on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other. Sechelt Inlet is the inside waters and is renowned for excellent canoeing, kayaking, swimming and fishing. The community of Sandy Hook is a 10-minute drive from Sechelt past Porpoise Bay Provincial Park. Sandy Hook was initially developed for summer cottages. The name Sandy Hook came from the sand that was placed on the waterfront to make the area more attractive. |
